Harry Singh: creating success with authenticity in Melbourne’s west

When Harry Singh arrived in Australia from India in 2013, he had nothing to his name except a will to achieve something special.

Today, he leads a team of 13 people and manages hundreds of properties across Melbourne’s western suburbs with Area Specialist, proving that authenticity and hard work are the keys to success in real estate.

A former banker in India, Mr Singh quickly found his calling in real estate after arriving in Australia, completing his qualifications within months of landing in the country.

“I had nothing to lose because when I came to Australia, I had nothing,” Mr Singh said.

“I started from scratch and built up myself, my career, my profile in the area where I’m working now.”

Operating in Melbourne’s western suburbs, including Werribee, Wyndham Vale, Manor Lakes, and Hoppers Crossing, Mr Singh has established himself as a trusted name in the region.

“The majority of buyers in this area are first-time buyers,” he said.

“We have a mix of sellers – from established areas like Hoppers Crossing where people have been for 15-to-20 years, to newer areas where people are looking to upgrade or downsize.”

Before joining Area Specialist in 2020, Mr Singh spent six years as one of the top performers at his previous company.

However, he felt the need to grow beyond his role as an agent.

“I wanted to grow myself more,” he said.

“I was not getting those opportunities in my previous company, so I thought let’s do something by ourselves and take the challenge again.”

Mr Singh puts his success down to his straightforward approach and genuine personality.

“I just want to be honest and be myself, not like a real estate agent telling stories to clients and trying to be a fake person,” he said.

“This is the feedback I get from my clients – they choose me because I’m straightforward.”

Since joining Area Specialist, Mr Singh’s business has gone from strength to strength.

His team now manages 375 rental properties, all grown organically, and he consistently achieves over half a million in GCI annually since joining Area Specialist.

“Our income has definitely gone up,” Mr Singh said.

“My personal income has more than doubled from what I was making before.”

For the past four years, Mr Singh and his business partner have been top-tier performers at Area Specialist.

Looking back on his journey, Mr Singh said the importance of genuine relationships and hard work can’t be understated.

“If anyone wants to be successful in real estate, be genuine and do your best,” he said.

“There is no shortcut to hard work.

“One of my previous leaders told me, ‘Just look after your clients – your clients will look after your business, and your business will look after you.’

“That’s the strategy I’m following every day.”
