Guidepoint Systems has launched a Remote Vehicle Command Operation solution developed by Stellantis, for new and compatible pre-owned Stellantis model vehicles. Guidepoint is the first Stellantis-affiliated telematics service provider to offer this cost savings solution to fleet managers.

How the Remote Operation Solution Works

Guidepoint has been working with Mobilisights, the Stellantis Data Business Unit, to offer a new service that will provide fleet managers with the ability to lock or unlock a vehicle, turn the engine on or off, as well as remotely open and close vehicle windows.

Using these new services will help reduce labor costs and improve vehicle operations and maintenance for automotive industry professionals including loaner fleet managers, carshare operators, and rental car agencies that rely on vehicle self-checkout processes.

“Fleet managers have moved from merely requesting large quantities of data about their vehicles, to demanding automated solutions that alert them to problems before they impact vehicle performance,” Guidepoint CEO Samuel Spencer said. “Identifying vehicles on a lot with low battery levels is a good start, but remotely and automatically turning on the vehicle for 15 minutes to recharge them would be an example of remote operations that deliver an actionable solution to a common issue.”

The service is available to Stellantis vehicle fleet operators via Mobilisights for the company’s 14 brands and 80 model vehicles.

“Fleet managers will now be able to conduct vehicle counts, initiate preventative maintenance, and identify potential operational issues remotely,” Spencer said. “That can lead to lower fleet management costs and reduced vehicle “down time” for unnecessary service. It’s a boost to their bottom line.”

Guidepoint Systems is the first telematics company in the U.S. to combine OEM embedded data and Artificial Intelligence with remote operational capabilities, according to a news release.

“This new remote operation solution is a terrific enhancement for fleet managers who want greater performance and work-flow efficiencies when it comes to telematic services,” Guidepoint Head of North American Sales Aditya (Eddie) Nath said. “Guidepoint listened to its customers and its business partners and has integrated AI in its solutions to benefit fleet operators. It’s exactly the type of customer-first service we strive for each day.”
