I almost began my headline with “Flying Pigs Alert.” Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris, whose campaign appears to be on life support, has finally agreed to sit for an interview with Fox News. No, really.
While it’s not the debate that Fox first offered Harris, she will be interviewed by veteran journalist and “Special Report” anchor Bret Baier.
We’re talking a big-girl interview, gang, so grab the popcorn and get ready for a real interview with a real journalist.
As reported on Monday by The New York Times:
The interview, with Fox News’s chief political anchor, Bret Baier, will take place near Philadelphia on Wednesday, shortly before it airs at 6 p.m. Eastern on Mr. Baier’s program, “Special Report.” Ms. Harris is expected to sit for 25 to 30 minutes of questions, the network said.
Who’d a thunk it mere days ago?
Harris has, from the beginning, run from legitimate interviews like they’re the plague, choosing instead to sit with media-friendly types who have asked only softball questions, while failing to challenge her on her scripted answers, including the monotonous “So I was born into a middle-class family” routine.
For Harris to finally put on her big-girl pantsuit and sit with a journalist of the caliber of Bret Baier is extraordinary, meaning her campaign officials must be extraordinarily terrified of her dwindling prospects of winning the election.

This is Ms. Harris’s first formal interview with Fox News, whose day-to-day programming is heavy on conservative punditry that often explicitly supports her Republican opponent, former President Donald J. Trump.
It could also represent an opportunity for the Democratic nominee three weeks ahead of Election Day.
Ms. Harris will have a chance to deliver her message to a viewership that may be skeptical of her candidacy. Her willingness to appear on Fox News may aid the perception that she is open to facing tough questions. And she can reach a swath of independent voters, more of whom watch Fox News than CNN or MSNBC, according to research by Nielsen.
Nice try, NYT — but that was pure left-wing rhetoric designed to put a happy face on the state of the Harris-Walz ticket. The “opportunity” is, in fact, desperation, as I suggested.
Harris, in my not-so-humble opinion, has zero chance of converting regular Fox viewers to her radical leftist views, particularly if she has the courage to finally reveal them, which I doubt she will.
On a different note, it was a bit of a surprise that The Times actually admitted that more independent voters watch Fox News than CNN and MSNBC.
The interview is scheduled to air on the same day that Fox is set to broadcast a town hall in which Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump plans to answer questions on subjects like abortion, child care, and daycare from an all-female audience, which should also be interesting.
So Here’s the Thing
Being the skeptic I am when it comes to all things Kamala Harris, I wonder what concessions, if any, her campaign was able to wheedle out of Fox or Baier. Off-limits topics? No fact-checking? Whatever the case may be, I don’t see Fox or Baier agreeing to any such nonsense.
