In this episode of “Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes”…
While the “stupid prizes” will likely come later in this story, the “stupid games” are in full swing — and about to get even stupider.
As President Donald Trump, Border Czar Tom Homan, and Homeland Security Department Secretary Kristi Noem get down the serious business of rounding up, arresting, and deporting “the worst of the worst” of illegal aliens in America’s cities, Wisconsin Democrat Gov. Tony Evers has not only resisted such deportations, but he also refuses to support a new bill that would cut funding to the state’s unlawful so-called “sanctuary” cities and impose other punitive measures.

Wisconsin State Sen. Julian Bradley (R-Waukesha) introduced a bill on Tuesday requiring individuals held in county jails on felony offenses to show proof they’re in the country legally or be reported to the Department of Homeland Security.
The bill would also force county sheriffs to comply with federal warrants to detain suspected deportable aliens and participate in a program that reimburses them for incarceration costs — instead of passing the costs on to Wisconsin taxpayers.
Evers promised to veto the Republican-sponsored bill even before it was introduced. His excuse? The left-wing governor declared illegal aliens are “part of our society.” Yeah. Evers told reporters:
[Illegal aliens are] part of our society. They’re doing a lot of great work and if we mess around with this and dance Donald Trump’s dance, our economy in Wisconsin will go right down the tubes. It’s as simple as that.
With due respect, governor, it’s nowhere near as simple as that.
Steven A. Camarota, director of the Research Center for Immigration Studies, told the U.S. House Oversight and Accountability Committee, Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs in late September the following, in part.
Adding millions of people to the country through immigration drives up the cost of housing and reduces affordability relative to wages in areas of heavy settlement. Fiscally, illegal immigrants are a net drain — they create more in costs than they pay in taxes. This is primarily due to their low average education levels, which results in low average earnings and tax payments.
Their lower incomes and education cause a large share to qualify for welfare programs, typically through their U.S.-born children. Illegal immigration also increases the supply of labor impacting the wages and employment of some American workers, often the poorest and least educated.
Further, the availability of illegal immigrant workers allows American policymakers to ignore the decades-long increase in the share of working-age less-educated U.S.-born men not in the labor force — neither working nor looking for work. They are not counted as unemployed because they are not actively looking for work. This deterioration is linked to serious social pathologies such as crime, welfare dependency, suicide, and drug overdoses.
Finally, illegal immigrants do increase the aggregate size of the U.S. economy, but overall GDP impact is not a measure of their tax contributions or economic benefits to the U.S.-born. Almost all the GDP increase goes to the illegal immigrants themselves in the form of wages.
Here’s the dirty little secret. Democrat elites don’t want us to know any of the above, gang, and they certainly don’t want their low-information voters to know the reality of the illegal alien crisis. No matter; facts are facts, which are anathema to the left, and those facts continue to pile up.
Incidentally, Evers’ snarky comment on vetoing the bill: “Amen.”
Sen. Bradley told Restoration News:
It’s telling how different our priorities are. I’m working to ensure cooperation between law enforcement to remove dangerous criminals while Gov. Evers and legislative Democrats are putting illegal alien felons above law-abiding citizens.
I’ll toss in my own “Amen” to that.
Here’s more:
Some 70,000 illegal aliens live in Wisconsin, including murderers, drunk drivers, and thugs from the ultraviolent Tren de Aragua gang. Voters responded by backing Donald Trump and passing a clear ban on non-citizen voting in 2024. Polling shows historic majorities support Trump’s mass deportations.
So where does Gov. Evers and his stubborn intransigence leave the good people of Wisconsin?
It’s hard to say, at least in the short run. But as I suggested at the top, I’m sure it won’t be long before Border Czar Tom Homan comes knocking — with the governor’s “stupid prize.”
Including knocking down doors to nab “the worst of the worst,” if necessary.
