Gigi Hadid brought her modeling expertise to the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway.
Hadid, 29, was among the iconic and debut angels who participated in the Tuesday, October 15, event in New York City. The supermodel began the show by strutting down the runway wearing a dazzling pair of the brand’s iconic angel wings, pausing at the end of the catwalk to swing her hips and stare into the crowd — a move she credited BFF Taylor Swift for while speaking to Entertainment Tonight ahead of the show. She later completed her final walk down the runway in a sexy red ensemble.
Ahead of the fashion show, Hadid teased whether boyfriend Bradley Cooper — to whom she has been linked since October 2023 — would be in the audience to cheer her on. “He’s watching from home tonight. He is on dad duty but so supportive,” she told ET backstage. (Cooper, 49, shares 7-year-old daughter Lea De Seine with ex Irina Shayk.)
While Hadid noted that her friends would be in attendance for the event, she told Access Hollywood that she planned to watch the fashion show with her 4-year-old daughter, Khai — whom she welcomed with ex Zayn Malik in September 2020 — after the fact, since it fell close to her bedtime.
Still, Khai made an impact on her model mom in her first appearance in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since becoming a parent.
“You reevaluate your priorities, first of all, so all of the work that I’m doing when Khai is with her dad and when I am making the time to work are jobs that really mean a lot to me. And also I think just seeing life in the world through a child’s eyes makes you so much more grateful,” Hadid told Access Hollywood on Tuesday of her experience. “To me, it’s so much more rewarding in the time that I have to myself to work because the rest of my time is spent making memories with her.”
Hadid previously walked in the brand’s fashion show in 2015, 2016 and 2018. After the event was canceled in 2019 due to criticism about the company’s lack of inclusivity, Victoria’s Secret rebranded and brought the fashion show back this year for the first time since 2018.
“There was definitely a time for change,” Hadid said of the revamped event. “We’re doing, I think, the show that people miss and people want with a lot of new things that were needed and really required by the people that watch it and love it.”
After a six-year hiatus, Hadid was thrilled to be included in the fashion show’s revival.
“I also, as a little girl, watched this show and loved this show and dreamt about being backstage at this show. Now it’s been so many years since the last time we did it that it kind of feels like the first time again, and it’s just magical,” she gushed. “It’s, like, the most glamorous version of a fashion show. It’s the most fun one in the world, in my opinion, and I’m just so happy to be here.”
