Although Twitter/X owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has taken strong stances in favor of free speech and against censorship—which somehow have become Republican causes instead of American ones—he has avoided declaring his allegiance to either the Democrats or GOP.
But that may have all changed, as reports indicate that he donated a “sizable amount” to America PAC, “a super political action committee working to elect former President Trump.” The PAC is required to disclose its list of donors on July 15, Bloomberg reports.
If Musk has decided it’s time to put his gargantuan fortune to work for Trump, it could have major ramifications in the ’24 presidential election:
The move highlights the growing influence of a technology mogul who tops the Bloomberg Billionaires Index with a net worth of $263.6 billion and his shift from a self-described political independent — who said he preferred to stay out of politics — into a figure who regularly uses his X social-media platform to espouse right-leaning views and assail Democrats.
The money injection from Musk comes at a time when Trump has overtaken his rival, President Joe Biden, in fundraising with the help of deep-pocketed Wall Street and corporate donors. Biden’s own money raising has dropped off following a calamitous debate that led prominent Democratic donors to put away their checkbooks.
Meanwhile, Biden’s donations are drying up like flowers in the desert.

Musk has not formally endorsed a candidate, but he has become an increasingly vocal critic of Biden on his social media platform—especially regarding the president’s dereliction of duty on crime and the border.
Why does the radical far left Biden administration welcome violent illegals into America to prey upon your friends & family?
We are even warned by other countries that it is insane to make America a haven for their convicted criminals! https://t.co/uAQguenaXf

He’s also defended Trump. Here he claps back at one of the endless “Trump is Hitler” posts:
Well, Trump was actually already president for 4 years and his policies bore no resemblance to those of Hitler, so this makes no sense.
In fact, with the Abraham Accords, he made some progress towards peace in the Middle East, which was definitely not high on Hitler’s agenda.

The South African native’s voice has become increasingly prominent since he took over Twitter, and he’s racked up over 189 million followers who want to know what he has to say. He has plenty of opinions:

Musk and Trump haven’t always gotten along, but their relationship appears to have warmed. “He does call me out of the blue for no reason,” Musk said in June. The multi-billionaire also says the former president is a huge fan of the Tesla Cybertruck.
Musk’s donation is sure to be welcomed by the Trump team, which has been busy watching the Biden campaign implode after the Debate Heard ‘Round the World. The question remains, however, is this a one-off, or is Elon indicating he’s fully ready to use his considerable influence and massive bank account to back Trump? If so, that would be yet another large nail in the Biden campaign’s coffin.
