The grand estate, spans over 33,000 square feet and sits on 2.3 acres of landscaped grounds.

Castellano, the former head of the Gambino crime family from 1976 until his assassination in 1985, built the four-storey residence in 1980.

According to Secret NYC, the property has undergone extensive renovations since 2000, boasting modern luxury while retaining its opulent character.

Listed by RJM Realty Empire Inc, the home features eight en-suite bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, a state-of-the-art theatre, a gym with a sauna, a wine cellar, a library, and a 13-car garage.

The mansion was previously listed for $16.8 million (AUD $25.7 million) in October 2023 but was removed from the market after a year.

If sold at the asking price, it would set a new record for Staten Island’s most expensive residential sale, easily surpassing the current record of $4.6 million (AUD $7 million) for a nearby luxury property.

While the estate has moved far beyond its mafia past, its history remains deeply tied to one of New York’s most infamous crime figures.

Castellano was one of the most powerful men in organised crime before his assassination outside Sparks Steak House in 1985 by a hit team working for John Gotti.

The mansion has had only three owners since its construction and last sold in 2000 for $3.1 million (AUD $4.7 million).
