If Pennsylvania Democrat Sen. John Fetterman is anything, he’s unpredictable, and often a thorn in his own party’s side. In the latest example, the mercurial senator chided his Democrat colleagues for their histrionic reaction to President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive win over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
“Just grab a grip,” Fetterman said in a recent interview with The New York Times.
We’re not even at Thanksgiving, and Democrats just can’t stop losing our minds every fifteen minutes. We really need to pace ourselves, or, you know, for f***’s sake, just grab a grip.
I’m just saying, buckle up and pack a lunch, because it’s going to be four years of this. And if you have a choice to freak out, you know, on the hour, then that’s your right. But I will not. I’m not that dude, and I’m not that Democrat.
I’m going to pick my fights. If you freak out on everything, you lose any kind of relevance.
Classic Fetterman.

In an even more “classic Fetterman,” dude became the first Democrat senator to post to Trump’s Truth Social platform on Tuesday. Let’s just say his first post set off fireworks — on both sides of the aisle.
Then again, Fetterman is Fetterman.

My first truth 👇
The Trump hush money and Hunter Biden cases were both b*******, and pardons are appropriate.
Weaponizing the judiciary for blatant, partisan gain diminishes the collective faith in our institutions and sows further division.

Fetterman made the same point during an episode of “The View” last Thursday, telling the lady geniuses:
Well, I think it’s undeniable that the case against Hunter Biden was really politically motivated. But I also think it’s true that the trial in New York for Trump, that was political as well, too.
And in both cases, I think a pardon is appropriate and I really think collectively, America’s confidence in these kinds of institutions has been damaged by these kinds of cases, and we cannot allow these kinds of institutions to be weaponized against our political opponents.
And it’s very clear both trials were politically motivated and weaponized on the other side.
Lemme just say that the look on Joy Behar’s face while Fetterman spoke was priceless.

Anyway, as you saw in the above X post, Fetterman included a screenshot in his Truth Social post of a recent MSNBC.com headline, which reads: “Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg responds to Trump’s motion to dismiss hush money case.”
The MSNBC article reported on Bragg’s pushback against Trump’s motion to dismiss the case in which he was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records earlier in 2024. Judge Juan Merchan has indefinitely postponed Trump’s sentencing date following his Election Day win.
Bragg wrote to Merchan that Trump’s request to dismiss goes “well beyond what is necessary to protect the presidency and would subvert the compelling public interest in preserving the jury’s unanimous verdict and upholding the rule of law.”
With respect to President Joe Biden’s full and unconditional pardon of his son Hunter, many Democrats, along with The Washington Post, The New York Times, and other prominent media outlets, opposed the pardon.
Meanwhile, John Fetterman continues to march to the beat of his own drummer.
