Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has signed a new contract at the club through to 2029.

21-year-old Lopez has scored 11 goals across 48 appearances for Barcelona since making his first-team debut in the 2023-24 season with this new deal representing a two-year extension to his previous contract.

The midfielder, who missed over a month this season with a thigh injury, started for Hansi Flick’s side in the recent victories over Bayern Munich and Real Madrid respectively.

Lopez scored 11 goals in his debut season with Barcelona’s first team, including strikes against Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Napoli.

Barcelona are well stocked in central midfield with Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Dani Olmo and Marc Casado among the options, while Gavi has returned from a long-term injury layoff and Pablo Torre has been promoted to the first-team squad.

Marc Bernal is a long-term absentee after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in his left knee in a 2–1 away win over Rayo Vallecano in August.
