Four months following Nuno Bettencourt’s listing of his Beachwood Canyon home in Los Angeles for nearly US$4 million, the Portuguese-American musician and lead guitarist of the renowned rock band Extreme has sold the property for US$3.7 million.

While the sale price fell short of the initial asking price by about US$200,000, Bettencourt, who is also known for touring with pop icon Rihanna, made a significant profit, selling the house for US$1.6 million more than his purchase price in spring 2013, according to the Robb Report.

The contemporary residence, nestled on a hillside covering roughly one-third of an acre and boasting a trio of glass-fronted garage bays, represents modern architectural design dating back to the early 1990s.

The property has been meticulously updated to offer over 511sq m of living space, featuring five bedrooms and six bathrooms.

The interior is defined by rustic hardwood floors, high vaulted ceilings, skylights, and an elevator, complemented by breathtaking views of downtown Los Angeles, Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood Sign, Lake Hollywood, and the Pacific Ocean.

Key features of the home include a double-height living room with a wood-encased fireplace, a seated wet bar, sliding glass doors leading to the exterior, an office space, a cozy den, a formal dining room, and a gourmet kitchen equipped with high-end appliances and a breakfast nook.

The primary bedroom suite offers a private balcony, a spacious walk-in closet, and an ensuite bathroom complete with a soaking tub, separate shower, and sauna.

The property’s exterior is equally impressive, showcasing a pool and spa on the upper deck, surrounded by a sun deck and an open-air cabana.

Additionally, a guesthouse, formerly used as a recording studio, adds to the property’s allure.

Extreme, best known for their 1990 album Pornograffitti, which featured hits like Hole Hearted and More than Words, continues to leave a mark on the music industry, with their recent album Six achieving success on the Billboard charts.
