Everton striker Beto is conscious and speaking after sustaining a head injury during his side’s 2-0 victor over Nottingham Forest, Sean Dyche has confirmed.

Beto, 26, sustained the injury during a clash of heads with Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Everton players immediately gestured for Beto to receive medical attention and a number of players were visibly distressed in the aftermath of the incident.

The game was halted for over six minutes while the Portuguese forward was attended to by medics.

He was eventually taken off on a stretcher and was seen holding up a thumbs-up as he left the field as he was applauded by both sets of supporters. He was replaced by Youssef Chermiti in the 100th minute.

“The early signs are very, very good, very positive,” the Dyche told Sky Sports.

“He had come round, he was speaking to the physios and medical team, so that’s positive news at this early stage of course.”

Goals from Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil sealed a vital win for Everton in their bid to remain in the Premier League this season over relegation rivals Forest.

The victory at Goodison Park keeps Everton in in 15th place, one place above Forest and five points clear of the relegation zone.

Everton are next in action against rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park on Wednesday.
