The final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park will be played on Wednesday, February 12 after it was postponed because of Storm Darragh.

The original date for the Premier League match between Everton and Liverpool was Saturday, December 7, but it was called off due to safety concerns.

Disruption was caused across the country by Storm Darragh which led to an amber weather warning being issued on Merseyside on the day of the game.

The new date, however, falls on a Wednesday when Champions League play-off ties are scheduled to be played and so is subject to Liverpool not being required to take part in that phase of the competition.

Liverpool have won all six of their games and sit atop the new-look 36-team Champions League table. They will not need to take part in the play-off round if they qualify as one of the top eight teams. Those play-offs will be played across two legs — taking place over February 11/12 and February 18/19 — by the teams placed ninth to 24th after the initial eight matches of the league phase are concluded.

Everton are 16th in the Premier League and the rescheduled derby will be new manager David Moyes’ sixth game back in charge of the club. They play an FA Cup fourth-round home tie against Bournemouth on Saturday, February 8, with a league trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday, February 15.

For Premier League leaders Liverpool, the derby will come in between an FA Cup fourth-round away game against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, February 8 and a home league match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, February 16th.

The second Merseyside derby of the 2024-25 season, meanwhile, will take place at Anfield over the midweek of April 1-3.
