Democrats have been trying to whip up anger against President Donald Trump over the economy.
That’s a pretty hypocritical move — given that Trump was left with a huge mess in that department left by Joe Biden, and the Democrats were not speaking out against Biden when he was driving inflation up. It wasn’t a particularly successful narrative for anyone who has been alive for the past five years.
I’ve also been writing about how things have been turning around under Trump. As we reported, eggs have now dropped about $1.85 a dozen in trading prices, as the Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins explained. That’s about a week and a half after she announced a five-point plan to deal with the high prices, so it looks like the market may be encouraged by the actions. That’s a big drop and that puts a big dent in that attack from the Democrats.
Then, gas prices have come down in the last three weeks as well. They’re now at the lowest March average in four years and down in every state over the same time last year. Lower gas prices are likely to help bring other prices down as well. That’s the cornerstone of Trump’s fight against inflation.

Now there’s more positive news with the inflation numbers released this morning that were lower than expected.
February’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) report showed inflation pressures eased in February, calming some fears about the health of the US economy during a rocky few weeks for markets.
The latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 2.8% over the prior year in February, below January’s 3% annual gain and ahead of economist expectations of a 2.9% annual increase.
That’s another change from Joe Biden — when the rate of increase numbers generally were higher than expected; here they were less.
Even CNN is admitting that it’s good news, as Matt Egan explained.
CNN: “Finally, we have some good news on the economy… both of these figures were a step in the right direction, and BOTH were better than expected… this actually breaks a streak of four straight months where the inflation rate was going in the wrong direction.” pic.twitter.com/aSfyscZAKq

“Finally, we have some good news on the economy and really the number one issue for many Americans: the cost of living,” Egan said. Both the year-over-year number and the month-over-month were “better than expected” and a “step in the right direction,” added Egan.
“So this is very encouraging to see because it’s going to, I think, relieve some fears that inflation was perhaps reaccelerating because this actually breaks a streak of four straight months…where the inflation rate was going in the wrong direction…Finally we’re seeing it dip.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt weighed in with a celebratory tweet, bragging it was the lowest core inflation numbers in four years, among other “wins.”

It also leaves Democrats without any narrative and likely gnashing their teeth.
