The home of 2.Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, there is a standing joke that it’s always cold. The Olympiastadion is in the middle of Olympic Park, so it’s exposed and the gap at one end of the ground can turn it into a wind tunnel.
Hertha don’t fill the stadium, especially post-relegation to the second tier, but for big occasions it can generate ungodly noise.
So far at Euro 2024 the stadium has hosted:
- Group stage: Spain 3-0 Croatia, Poland 1-3 Austria, Netherlands 2-3 Austria
- Last 16: Switzerland 2-0 Italy
- Quarter-finals: Netherlands 2-1 Turkey
This will be England’s first and only visit to Berlin this tournament, while Spain began their campaign here with that temp-setting thrashing of Croatia first time out.
