Lucas Bravo‘s future on Emily in Paris is still undecided after his surprising comments about the show, a source exclusively reveals in the newest issue of Us Weekly.

“The show will go on with or without Lucas,” the insider adds. “The show is Emily in Paris — not Gabriel in Paris.”

According to the source, “Everyone is so upset about the remarks he made. There is going to be a lot of tension.”

The Netflix series, which premiered in 2020, follows Emily’s (Lily Collins) journey after moving to France from the U.S. for a new job. Emily subsequently finds herself caught in a love triangle between Gabriel (Bravo) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).

Courtesy of Netflix It doesn’t seem like Lucas Bravo is looking forward to season 5 of Netflix’s Emily in Paris. Bravo, 36, has played Gabriel, the hot, French chef neighbor and love interest to Lily Collins’ Emily, since season 1. He reprised the role for season 4, which premiered on Netflix in August 2024, but […]

Season 4 premiered earlier this year and showed Emily and Gabriel’s attempt at romance ending as quickly as it started. Emily ultimately ended the season in Rome with new love interest Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini).

Last month, Bravo, 36, raised eyebrows with his comments about how Gabriel’s arc frustrated him in recent seasons.

“The ‘sexy chef’ was very much part of me in season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take,” Bravo told IndieWire. “I’ve never been so far away from him.”

The actor said he felt Gabriel had “slowly turned into guacamole” before making a dig about narrative “souffles” and a “lack of risk” on screen.

Who doesn’t love a good love story? Girl falls in love with boy, then falls in love with his best friend too, for example. The love triangle has been a frequent plot point in TV and film for years, but there is maybe no more iconic angsty trio than the one between Dawson (James Van […]

“In season 1, there was a lot of me in him. But as they made him kind of unaware of his surroundings, of the dynamic, always victimizing and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone, it kind of became not fun for me to shoot,” he noted. “Or to see a character I love so much and brought me so much, being slowly turned into guacamole. I really grew apart from him.”

Bravo recalled trying to make suggestions for his character, adding, “[But] there is only so much I can do in the limits of a script. I tried for seasons to bring nuances but we don’t have much liberty on set. We cannot change a word or an emotion. They know what they want and we just have to comply.”

Reconsidering the past? Some actors aren’t proud of every project they’ve been a part of — even the ones that skyrockets their careers. Shailene Woodley scored her big break on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, but the experience came with its own issues. After playing teen mother Amy Juergens from 2008 until 2013, […]

Much to fans’ dismay, Bravo even hinted at stepping away from the series, which was officially renewed in September.

“It makes me question if I want to be part of season 5 — because my contract ends at season 4. I really want to see if Gabriel gets back to his fun, cheeky, playful, alive self,” he continued. “Because three seasons playing melancholic, sad, depressed, and lost is not fun anymore. It’s a comedy, everybody is having fun around me, everybody is jumping around, and I’m just slowly sinking into god knows what.”
