Dodgers vs Yankees World Series live updates: Game 3 score, latest news, predictions and odds

Dodgers Game 3 starter Walker Buehler has made 122 starts in his career, but he’s never faced the New York Yankees, much less pitched at Yankee Stadium.

He’s pitched exceptionally well in two previous World Series starts — 13 innings, 1 run, 17 strikeouts — but those starts were before the 2022 Tommy John surgery that left him, at times, searching for that past success during the regular season.

Basically, this is a new version of a familiar face, and so it’s unclear whether past performance against Buehler would be particularly relevant anyway. But, as it is, only two Yankees starters have more than five career at-bats against Buehler.

Here’s their starting lineup with their career numbers against the Dodgers starter.

  1. Gleyber Torres: —
  2. Juan Soto: 2-for-10, 2 BB, 3 K
  3. Aaron Judge: —
  4. Giancarlo Stanton: —
  5. Jazz Chisholm Jr.: 3-for-5, 2B, 2 K
  6. Anthony Volpe: —
  7. Anthony Rizzo: 2-for-9, 2B, BB, K
  8. Jose Trevino: —
  9. Alex Verdurgo: —

The only Yankees bench player who’s faced Buehler is backup outfielder Trent Grisham (pictured) who’s 4-for-17 with two home runs and three strikeouts. Those are pretty good numbers, but it seems unlikely the Yankees will use him in any sort of pinch hit situation unless some unforeseen circumstance forces their hand.
