As I chose the feature image for this article, I wondered what Walt Disney would think today about the company he founded in Los Angeles in 1923 to entertain generations of America’s kids and adults alike.
As today’s Los Angeles bears little resemblance to its past, the Walt Disney Company’s stubborn attachment to DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) has reduced the home of Mickey Mouse to a “woke,” hardly recognizable shadow of its storied past, as evidenced by reportedly losing more than $1 billion combined on its last four high-profile releases, every one of which bombed at the box office.
As the Disney investor backlash over the company’s ill-advised commitment to all things “woke” has continued to grow, Disney is reportedly dropping two DEI programs, according to the company’s latest SEC filing, as reported by Fox Business, including its controversial “Reimagine Tomorrow” program, which Disney describes thusly:
Reimagine Tomorrow is our way of amplifying underrepresented voices and untold stories as well as championing the importance of accurate representation in media and entertainment. Because we are all greater than a single story and we all deserve to be seen, heard, and understood.
Here’s more, via Fox Business:
[The report] defines the program as “the company’s digital destination for amplifying underrepresented voices and features some of Disney’s DE&I commitments and actions.” The program hosted a controversial 2022 leaked “all-hands” meeting in which a Disney executive touting her “not at all secret gay agenda.”
“On my little pocket of Proud Family Disney TVA, the showrunners were super welcoming… our leadership over there has been super welcoming to my not-at-all-secret gay agenda… they’re going hard… I don’t have to be afraid to have these two characters kiss in the background. I was just, wherever I could, adding queerness,” executive producer Latoya Raveneau said at the time.
The page [which is still active] also lists racial and gender breakdowns of their content and workforce as of 2021, and boasts of their Business Employee Research Groups which represent employees from different ethnic backgrounds.
As Disney has been forced to see, butchering once-lovable Disney stories with over-the-top depictions of alternative lifestyles to the point of ad nauseam — confirmed by billions in losses — has led parents across America to tune out, no longer wanting to subject their young children to DEI propaganda — assuming even a minority of Americans ever did.

Stefan Padfield, director of the Free Enterprise Project, told Fox News Digital:
Disney dropping [Reimagine Tomorrow] from their DEI section could mean they’re walking back their DEI investments, or it could signal they’re hiding them. Either they recognize that more litigation is coming, or it could be part of a vibe shift.
Good point. Will Disney follow through as it now claims, or as Padfield suggested, might the Mouse try to hide its DEI nonsense?
Time will tell. As will, I suspect, Disney’s bottom line — and increasingly disgruntled shareholders.
