Senator and former presidential candidate Michael Bennet (D-CO) is not confident that President Biden will have a chance against former President Trump in November and urges him to step aside, allowing a new generation to take control of the party.

He joined CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins and told her that not only could Trump win the 2024 election by a landslide, but the GOP could take the majority in the Senate while holding the majority in the House.

This race is on a trajectory that is very worrisome if you care about the future of this country. Joe Biden was nine points up at this time, the last time he was running. Bill Clinton was five points up. This is the first time in more than 20 years that a Republican president has been up in this part of the campaign.

Donald Trump is on track, I think, to win this election. And maybe win it by a landslide and take with it the Senate and the House. So, for me, this isn’t a question about polling, it’s not a question about politics, it’s a moral question about the future of our country. And I think it’s critically important for us to come to grips with what we’d face if, together, we put this country on the path of electing Donald Trump again.

In 2020, Democrats who wanted Biden to be the nominee argued that only he could help down-ballot candidates during the general election; now, several Democrats have come out publicly and said he will damage candidates in swing districts and give up the Senate majority if he remains at the top of the ticket.

Bennet is no fan of Trump, yet Biden loyalists will claim the Colorado Senator is a Trump sympathizer because he believes the president can’t defeat Trump in November. He added:

I think that we could lose the whole thing, and it’s staggering to me. Donald Trump’s already been president; I thought he was the worst president that we’ve ever had.

Bennet continued:

I believe those of us who are in this elected office have a moral obligation to the people that we represent … We have a moral obligation to them to do everything we can to make sure their future is as bright as it can be.

Bennet is correct; they do have an obligation to ensure that Americans’ future is as bright as possible. However, Bennet is implying that the only way our future will be bright is if Trump loses in November and the Democrats control the Senate and House majority.

The question is: How could our country’s future be bright if, under Democrat control, gas prices remain too high, home prices have reached record highs, families are living paycheck to paycheck, some need to work more than one job, small businesses can’t remain open or are forced to raise their prices due to unrealistically higher wages, crime is out of control due to pro-criminal district attorneys, etc.? I know Democrats’ response will be “But Trump…” while ignoring the issues we currently face. Most of these issues have been around for years; however, they have been accelerated due to the Democrats’ left-wing policies. That could be slowed down, at the very least, if not fully stopped, if fed-up citizens make their voices heard, in droves, at the ballot box in November.
