Dave Coulier is not impressed with critics questioning why John Stamos wore a bald cap in support of his longtime friend.

“I’m sorry to see a bunch of negative comments as I’ve just begun my cancer journey,” Coulier, 65, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, November 19. “It’s our friendship (me and John) and this is how we are handling a very tough time. I’m a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knows how to cheer me up and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap — being a true loving friend and brother.”

Just one day earlier, Stamos, 61, posted pictures of himself via Instagram wearing a bald cap as a sign of support for Coulier, who recently went public with his own Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis.

“I have heard from so many people who have been inspired enough by my words and actions to say that they are going to check in with their doctors and get mammograms, a colonoscopy or a prostate exam,” Coulier shared in his latest social media post. “I’m still going to laugh in the face of adversity.”

Dave Coulier and Melissa Bring formed a strong relationship before saying “I do.” Coulier met Bring in 2005, over a decade after he and his ex-wife, Jayne Modean, ended their two-year marriage in 1992. (The exes welcomed their only child, son Luc, in 1990.) Coulier popped the question to Bring after nine years of dating […]

After losing his sister Sharon, mother Arlen, and niece Shannon to cancer, Coulier said his family “tried to stay positive.” He’s hoping to continue that uplifting spirit.

“We made each other laugh through the worst of it,” he continued. “I’m choosing to spread the word about early cancer detection to help people. That’s just who I am. I wish nothing but love for all of you.”

After seeing the post, Stamos commented with three heart emojis while breast cancer survivor Jill Martin noted: “You are going through enough. Whenever you can laugh… You laugh!”

Coulier was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a “very aggressive” cancer, in October, after an upper respiratory infection caused severe swelling of his lymph node. He announced his diagnosis on Wednesday, November 14.

During an interview with People, Coulier noted that his recovery rate “went from something low to [the] 90 percent range” after a bone marrow test came back negative.

After shaving his head and undergoing his round of chemotherapy, Coulier revealed on Today that if his treatment goes as planned, he should be in “total remission” by the time he completes chemo in February 2025.

Through all the ups and downs of Coulier’s cancer, Stamos hopes his friend knows just how much he is loved by fans and those closest to him.

“You’re handling this with so much strength and positivity — it’s inspiring,” Stamos wrote via Instagram. “I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand with you every step of the way. I love you.”
