Congressional Progressives Never Learn: It's Not the Messaging, It's the Message

The left never stops complaining. They complain about the climate, they complain about energy production, they complain about the Electoral College, they complain about red states doing things they don’t like, and they complain about the Supreme Court. These people aren’t happy, it seems, unless they are unhappy.

Now we see that the Congressional Progressive Caucus is whining about the election just past, and they are blaming Democrat losses on… political action committees?

Progressive lawmakers are demanding the incoming Democratic National Committee leader agree to significant reforms involving political action committee donations as a way to rekindle the Democratic Party’s favor among working-class voters after the 2024 election defeat.

In a memo obtained by the Washington Examiner, Congressional Progressive Caucus Chairwoman Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Chairman-elect Greg Casar (D-TX), and Reps. Maxwell Frost (D-FL), and Chris Deluzio (D-PA) call on the DNC to prohibit corporate PAC donations and “push to ban SuperPAC spending in Democratic primaries.”

It’s unclear as to how they think this will help them regain the working-class voters they’ve lost in droves – but then, these people have never had an overabundance of what you’d call clues. But they are letting something slip here, and it’s something that will spell more trouble for the “progressive” (and by that I mean progress on the road to socialism) left in future elections:

The memo comes after Democrats saw a decrease in support among the working class in the 2024 elections, prompting Vice President Kamala Harris to lose all the swing states and the popular vote to President-elect Donald Trump. Harris lost despite outraising Trump, while super PACs and outside groups were huge contributors to both candidates.

Since November, progressive leaders have been vocal about calling on establishment Democrats to urge reflection on how the party can alter messaging and platforms to show working-class voters they are the priority.

These people just don’t get it. They likely never will. And that’s a good thing for the country and for us productive citizens.

We saw this very plainly in the 2024 election cycle, with Kamala Harris being a stunning example. Messaging isn’t the problem. The message is the problem. The progressive message that includes:

  • Transgender awareness and drag queen story hours in the schools.
  • Men and boys competing on women’s and girls’ athletic teams – and using the women’s and girls’ locker rooms and showers.
  • Skyrocketing inflation and the necessity to take out a second mortgage to fill a gas tank – or to buy a month’s worth of groceries.
  • Young people in their 30s still unable to afford to buy a house.
  • Taxes, taxes, and more taxes.
  • DEI in our corporations, our government, and, worst of all, our armed forces.

Rep. Frost says:

“We want to make sure that every decision that the DNC is making for the service of winning back working-class people and winning the working-class votes. So this is part of that,” Frost said. “The way we conduct our primaries is very important. That’s why I signed onto the letter.”

Mr. Frost doesn’t get it – the Democrats will never win back the traditional, blue-collar working folks with policies like these. They still don’t understand, despite all evidence to the contrary, that it’s not the messaging. It’s the message. Let’s hope they never figure it out.

As my grandfather was fond of observing, “You can teach ’em, but you can’t learn ’em.”
