Milan and USMNT forward Christian Pulisic is set to undergo a scan on a suspected calf injury that forced him off in the first half of Friday’s defeat to Atalanta.
Pulisic was substituted in the 38th minute after going down clutching the back of his lower left leg.
The 26-year-old walked off the pitch accompanied by members of Milan’s medical team and was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
He will now be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against Crvena Zvezda.
“I think Loftus-Cheek played well off the bench. Pulisic had been having a great game but Ruben looked bright,” Milan manager Paulo Fonseca said at full time. “I don’t think that was our problem (missing Pulisic), our problem was our approach and the fact that, in the second half, we didn’t keep up the things we did in the first half.”
Pulisic has made 20 appearances in all competitions for Milan this season, providing eight goals and six assists.
Milan were beaten 2-1 by Atalanta thanks to an 87th-minute Ademola Lookman winner, moving Atalanta top of Serie A.
The defeat leaves Fonseca’s side seventh in Serie A, 12 points behind the league leaders.
Following Wednesday’s Champions League fixture, Milan return to Serie A action against Genoa on Sunday.
