By now, many readers are aware there’s a new biopic about President Ronald Reagan, which is now playing in theaters across the country. My colleague Bob Hogue had the good fortune of catching an advance screening of “Reagan” before its release last weekend, and conducted this great interview with one of the stars, Hollywood legend Jon Voight.

Hoge also wrote, ahead of the screening, on star Dennis Quaid talking about Big Tech’s blatant attempts to quash advertising for the conservative movie before it even got out of the starting gate:

There They Go Again: Dennis Quaid Says Facebook Censoring Marketing for Reagan Movie

Chris Wallace, you may recall, ditched a premier political perch as host of  Fox News’ “Fox News Sunday,” then hitched his wagon to the flailing CNN. But he also hosts the “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” program on the Max streamer now.

That’s where he sat down with Quaid this week, and tried his darnedest to spring a truly lame “gotcha” question on “The Right Stuff” performer–excoriating him over his support for former President Donald Trump in the election and trying to connect the dots to a famous Reagan motto.

You can see the so-called Republicans Against Trump X account dutifully shared the clip, in hopes of hitting Quaid and his movie.

Watch::

CNN anchor Chris Wallace pressed “Reagan” star Dennis Quaid over his personal support for former President Trump, saying the former president whom Quaid plays in an eponymous film would be a “appalled” by the 2024 Republican nominee.

Wallace asked Quaid, who plays the 40th U.S. president in the new movie, how he could support Trump, saying “a lot of people say that there would be no room for Ronald Reagan in Donald Trump’s Republican Party.”

The actor said:

Yes, Ronald Reagan was a man of his times. And Trump is also, he’s a man of his times. But I do feel that the principles of Ronald Reagan and the principles of Donald J. Trump are very similar.

Notice how it cuts off Quaid’s full answer. What’s up with the Left continuing to claim it’s the champion of free speech, yet censoring any speech they don’t like? That’s a rant for another piece, probably.

Wallace, for his part, strenuously disagreed. Anyway, here’s how the actor continued his answer in the face of Wallace’s withering interrogation:

Well, I do think you see a Trump 2.0 here as far as the Republican Party and him getting along that this time around. Ronald Reagan was America first, I would contend. The circumstances around that, the issues around the election of 1980 are very similar today.

You had high inflation, gas prices, what they were, we had hostages in the Middle East. We were told that we were a nation in decline and felt that malaise that Jimmy Carter himself said that and very similar issues to what is going on today.

Quaid isn’t wrong, as anyone who lived through the dismal times brought on by the wrongheaded, progressive policies on energy and foreign policy, among others, during the Carter administration of the Seventies and early Eighties. Americans are aware that our economy and other facets of how the country are being quickly run into the ground by Biden and Democrat presidential nominee, VP Harris. Soon enough, if the progressives get their ticket into the White House for four more years of failure, we’ll be as bad or worse off than the nation was in that era before Reagan and the Republicans in Congress claimed a massive victory in the 1980 election.

Now, one thing you can say about Chris Wallace…he has a spiteful and long memory. It’s likely he holds on to the insult Trump threw his way during a speech in 2020. Considering how much flak the former president got from the host, it isn’t surprising he tried to hit back like he did.

Riley Gaines checked in after seeing “Reagan,” and drops a hint on why the Left and its allies in the dominant culture squad like Wallace may still harbor a seething animosity towards the Gipper–and are so adamant about attacking this movie:
