Villarreal are working to finalise a deal to sign Canada international Tajon Buchanan on loan from Inter Milan.
Buchanan has started only once for Inter since returning from a broken leg earlier this season. That injury was sustained during a Canada practice session in July and came only a few months after Buchanan had joined Inter from Club Brugges.
The 25-year-old signed for Inter in a deal worth an initial €7million (£6m; $7.7m) plus add-ons in January 2024 but did not start a game for the Italian club, featuring 10 times as a substitute as they won the Serie A title.
Buchanan previously played 67 times for Club Bruges after arriving in January 2022.
The versatile wide player has made 43 appearances for the Canada men’s national team, including starting all three of their group games at the 2022 World Cup.
Villarreal are fifth in La Liga, six points behind fourth-placed Athletic Club.
