Is California’s latest bureaucratic insanity a direct punishment to its residents over the elections last Tuesday? Although the Golden State stayed reliably blue in the presidential contest, we did vote out soft-on-crime, Soros-backed district attorneys like the infamous George Gascón and approved crime measure Prop 36.

Their latest move sure feels like naked retribution: California’s Air Resources Board (CARB voted Friday night to change fuel standards. Translation: they want to add 65 cents a gallon to the already highest fuel prices in the nation. This comes as Gov. Gavin Newsom preens on the national stage and vows to defy Trump despite the fact that the president-elect just scored a massive electoral win and what can only be called a mandate for his vision.

There’s a phrase out there, and it’s that they “doubled down on stupid”:

On Friday, the California Air Resources Board voted to revamp its climate change program which is estimated to increase gas prices as high as 65 cents.  The vote was 12-2 vote.

Ultimately, the changes require gasoline, diesel, and other fuels to meet higher standards for greenhouse gases.  It also tweaks how credits are awarded for lower carbon fuels.

On Saturday morning, the average gallon of gas in California costs $4.14 compared to the $3.09 national average. In Contra Costa County, the average is $4.60 per gallon.

Republicans in the state are fighting back against the madness, but they are so outnumbered in this one-party state that it’s hard to be hopeful.

Ahead of the vote, California Senate Republicans submitted a petition with nearly 13,000 signatures urging this board to postpone the vote.

“This is going to really negatively impact many millions of people here in California,” said Sen. Brian Jones and added. “And for this unelected board made up by a group of millionaires to even be considering raising our gas prices right now while Californian’s are struggling under the cost of living here in California, is unbelievable to me that we are even having this discussion.”

Said Bay Area driver Tanner Ramsey, speaking for us all who aren’t millionaire entertainment executives: “To vote on it, to make it higher just doesn’t make sense, because we are already kind of getting by. A lot of people live paycheck to paycheck.”

The 2024 election results are a beautiful thing to behold, and much of the nation showed their firm disgust with the progressive politics that have caused decline in virtually all our major cities and caused living expenses to explode for everyone. The battle is far from over, however, as we see here in the Golden State, where climate extremists want to tax your car out of existence and force you to either take the dangerous mass transit system or buy an electric vehicle that you neither want nor can afford.

Total Repudiation. Oh, What a Beautiful Feeling! (VIP)

Newsom will continue to angle for higher office and is sure to be contemplating a presidential run in 2028. We got rid of the Kamala-Biden-Walz cabal, but we must remain wary of this viper because he has considerably more political skill than any of those three. His goal seems to be to continually stick his thumb in the eye of the remaining residents, and somehow it’s led him to electoral success. We must continue to expose him as the enemy of the common man that he is, and make sure that when he terms out in 2026, he disappears into history.
