Burnley are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

A loan deal or a permanent transfer are both options at this stage. The Tunisia international has one year left on his United contract.

If the deal is completed, the 21-year-old would bring Championship experience to Burnley after spending the 2022/23 season on loan at Birmingham City where he scored one goal and provided five assists in 38 games.

Hannibal joined United in 2019 from Monaco and progressed through the club’s youth academy. He has made 13 first-team appearances for the club and 27 appearances for the Tunisia national team.

He joined La Liga side Sevilla on loan in January 2024 for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

The deal contained a €20million including add-ons — and a fixed buy-back clause for United, who will also have a sell-on clause for the midfielder, but that option was not taken up by the Spanish side.

Burnley are next in action against Sunderland on Saturday while United face Brighton and Hove Albion on the same day.
