Brighton & Hove Albion will welcome back defender Joel Veltman for Saturday’s visit to West Ham.

A dip in form, which has seen Fabian Hurzeler’s side winless for four games and a drop in the table from second to ninth, has coincided with the 32-year-old former Dutch international right-back’s absence from the team with a muscular injury.

Hurzeler confirmed at his press conference on Thursday morning that “Joel will be back” in contention to face West Ham.

The head coach will still be without striker Danny Welbeck for the trip to the London Stadium.

Welbeck, Brighton’s top goal scorer this season with six goals, has missed two of the last three matches with an ankle injury.

Hurzeler said of Welbeck: “He is not in the best shape (with the injury). We need to keep looking week to week.”

Midfielder Matt O’Riley and central defender Adam Webster have both resumed training. O’Riley missed Sunday’s 3-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace with a minor knock. Webster has been out for ten matches with a hamstring injury sustained in the 3-2 home win against Tottenham in October.

Jack Hinselwood (knee), Ferdi Kadioglu (toe), James Milner Milner (hamstring) and Solly Knee (March) all remain sidelined.
