After disappearing Tuesday night and being a no-show at her planned victory party at Howard University in Washington D.C., Kamala Harris has finally phoned President-elect Donald Trump to concede the election.

Took her long enough:

Vice President Kamala Harris called President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday to congratulate him on winning the presidential election, a Harris aide said.

The vice president also “discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being a president for all Americans,” the aide said. Harris will deliver her concession speech to supporters later Wednesday in Washington at Howard University, her alma mater.

Fox News was among those reporting on the breaking news:

Fox host John Roberts:

All right, a Fox News alert now and from Peter Doocy we learned that Kamala Harris just completed a phone call with President-elect Donald Trump to concede the election, to congratulate him on winning; apparently, she discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being president for all Americans she is going to be delivering remarks at Howard University, 4:00 o’clock this afternoon, so we will hear more from her there.

A strong female leader would be able to face her supporters, absorb the shock, and project strength even and especially in the toughest moments. TOTAL FAIL

It’s been a wild ride.

The question remains: why did this take her so long, and why isn’t she making an official speech until Wednesday afternoon? Shades of Hillary Clinton in 2016—both these candidates showed their true colors when faced with adversity. Luckily for us, neither will sit in the Oval Office:

Leftist pundits have been telling us for years that the failures of Clinton were partly due to misogyny and that we, the public, couldn’t handle a strong female president, but now both Harris and Clinton have shown that they were not up to the job.

RedState will bring you coverage of Harris’ speech—when she finally makes it.
