The Housing Industry Association has appointed Brad Armitage as Executive Director NSW, bringing hands-on building experience to the leadership role.

Mr Armitage, who started his career as a carpenter, has been with HIA since 2017, serving in various roles including Assistant Director – Building Services and Assistant Director – Planning and Building.

He has held the position of Deputy Executive Director NSW since 2020.

He succeeds David Bare, whose lengthy tenure saw significant achievements for the residential industry in NSW.

Looking ahead to 2025, which forecasts indicate will see decade-low housing commencements, Mr Armitage is focused on supporting HIA members.

“I am excited to take on this important and challenging role,” Mr Armitage said.

“Our members are at the very core of what we do at HIA and I look forward to working alongside our incredible team to get the best outcomes for our members.”

“With a decade low number of housing commencements likely in 2025 it will be even more important that we focus our efforts so that HIA members can get on with doing what they do best, building homes.”

HIA Managing Director Jocelyn Martin welcomed the appointment.

“His grassroots experience as a builder means Brad is well-placed to advocate on behalf of those issues which impact builders every day,” Ms Martin said.

“I look forward to working alongside Brad to hold the NSW Government to account for improvements to planning regimes and reduction of red tape to allow builders to get on with the job of building more homes.”

With both Federal and State elections on the horizon in 2025, HIA NSW plans to intensify its industry advocacy under Mr Armitage’s leadership.
