If you thought it would be a quiet Sunday and the president would be lounging on the beach like his predecessor did almost every weekend, you’d be mistaken—because this is the Trump administration we’re dealing with, and they never seem to sleep.
This Sunday’s afternoon news: Trump just put thousands of USAID employees from the embattled and apparently thoroughly corrupt agency on leave. The move comes after a federal judge finally got out of the way Friday and allowed the move to proceed despite previously ruling to stall it.
Now Trump has brought down the hammer:
The Trump administration continued its bloodbath gutting of the U.S. Agency for International Development, cutting 2,000 workers and placing all but a fraction of other staffers on leave.
It comes after a federal judge on Friday allowed the administration to move forward with pulling thousands of domestic USAID staffers off the job and around the world.
U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols rejected pleas that came in a lawsuit from employees to keep temporarily blocking the government´s plan.
‘As of 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, February 23, 2025, all USAID direct hire personnel, with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and/or specially designated programs, will be placed on administrative leave globally,’ according to the notices sent to USAID workers and viewed by The Associated Press.
To the 2,000 USAID employees getting released today, I’m sure there’s lots of other leftwing NGOs you can find gainful employment at.

Normally, you might feel bad for people who have just lost their jobs, but Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency have uncovered such a stunning level of waste and misplaced priorities that it’s hard to work up an ounce of sympathy for anyone associated with the place.

Although Democrats have been filing lawsuits against the administration seemingly whenever the president sneezes, and a number of judges have stepped in with bizarre rulings to stop him from doing his presidential duties, some of the more recent rulings have gone his way and allowed for this big win.
Meanwhile, while Democrats and the media whine that USAID is vital and “that aid and development work overseas serves national security by stabilizing regions and economies and building alliances,” DOGE’s investigations have proven that it’s a hot-bed of far-left propaganda which regularly throws huge sums at divisive progressive issues and even sends money to terrorist organizations.
Here’s where some of your taxpayer dollars have been going:
Elon has absolutely leveled USAID, the “US Agency for International Development,” basically a slush fund for leftists to underwrite such worthy projects as pottery classes in Morocco, bat research on coronaviruses at China’s infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology, $20 million to create a “Sesame Street” in Iraq, $1.5 million to “advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities,” the list goes on… and on.
USAID needs to have its rot ripped out, or it needs to go the way of the dodo bird. Trump’s move is a good start.
