The Common’s annual Author Postcard Auction is back for its eleventh year!

The Postcard Auction offers the chance to bid on a hand-written, personalized postcard just for you, from a ton of great authors, musicians, and more: Tony Kushner, Joy Williams, Julian Barnes, Andrew Sean Greer, Kelly Link, Rebecca Makkai, Jennifer Egan, Rachel Kushner, Ann Patchett, Viet Thanh Nguyen, Sandra Cisneros, Jeff Tweedy, Craig Finn, and many more. It’s a bonkers list, to use a technical term.

And the postcards promise to be way more interesting than a standard “wish you were here.” The Common says that “…authors have famously gone all out with their postcards: expect to receive anything from long letters to drawings and doodles to haikus.”

A doodle or letter from any of the great folks involved would make a fantastic gift, a nice distraction from It All, or just something cool to break up the usual mundanity of the mail.

And if the postcard isn’t enough, your tax-deductible bid supports The Common, a literary institution based in Amherst, MA that publishes in print and online, hosts readings and events, and sponsors educational and mentorship initiatives.

Online bidding is open now till December 2. And while you’re at it, check out some of the great writing The Common is publishing.
