Barcelona forward Ferran Torres will be out for at least three weeks after sustaining a right hamstring injury.
Torres picked up the problem in the sixth minute of Barcelona’s 3-0 victory at Alaves in La Liga on Sunday and was replaced by Eric Garcia. Sources close to the club and player, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, say he will likely miss several matches for Barcelona when club football returns in two weeks.
The 24-year-old had been included in Spain’s squad for this month’s Nations League fixtures against Denmark and Serbia but will now be expected to withdraw from the squad.
After the international break, Barcelona face Sevilla at home on October 20, followed by a Champions League home match against Bayern Munich and then the trip to Real Madrid in La Liga on October 26.
