Audrey Hepburn’s former Swiss estate is on the market

Located in Tolochenaz, near Geneva and the French border, La Paisible, which translates to “peaceful place”, was Hepburn’s sanctuary from 1963 until her passing in 1993.

The 18th-century farmhouse spans 10,800 square feet across a 40-acre lot, offering 12 bedrooms, eight bathrooms, multiple fireplaces, and a library.

The property also boasts a heated pool, century-old trees, and a rose garden, featuring white rose bushes gifted by fashion house Givenchy to Hepburn on her 60th birthday.

Hepburn’s sons sold the estate in 2001 to Katharina and Jean-Marc Beaujolin raised their six children there.

Now, after more than two decades, the couple told Bloomberg they are looking to downsize.

“It’s just the two of us in this big house, and it felt like the right moment to make a change,” Katharina Beaujolin said.

According to Alex Koch de Gooreynd of Knight Frank, the listing agency, Switzerland remains a prime location for high-net-worth buyers due to its stability, personal safety, and world-class education.

“It’s easy to see why Audrey Hepburn adored the environment, where she enjoyed both complete privacy and breathtaking surroundings,” he said.

The historic property, classified as a Grade 2 architectural residence, features 21 rooms, five fireplaces, and elegant finishes, including oak parquet and terracotta floors.

A service apartment with two bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen is also integrated into the main house.

The southeast-facing villa ensures abundant natural light throughout the day, and the estate includes two indoor garages and parking for 15 cars.

However, prospective buyers must meet Swiss residency permit requirements.
