ATLANTA SNOW: This is how much snow we could see across North Georgia

One of the biggest questions Channel Action News viewers are asking as a winter storm approaches, is how much snow are we going to get?

Severe Weather Team Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says that depends on where you live.

As of the latest models Wednesday night, if you live in the far North Georgia mountains, you will likely see about 4-6 inches of snow by the time the storm leaves early Saturday morning.

“Little, if any ice will mix in,” Nitz said.

The southern parts of the mountains to the northern part of metro Atlanta will see about 2-4 inches of snow.

“Then we get down to the transition zone for much of the metro area, where we’ll have one to three inches of snow, mostly snow early on Friday, changing over to freezing rain by Friday afternoon and evening,” Nitz said.

The far south metro down to central Georgia will just see a cold rain from the storm.
