Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey will be out for the remainder of the season with a foot injury, Unai Emery has confirmed.

The 22-year-old has not featured since being forced off in the first half against Luton on March 2 with a toe issue.

Emery said: “Jacob Ramsey has again some problems with his toe. He is not going to be available for the rest of the season.”

Ramsey has been restricted to 21 appearances in all competitions this term, having broken his metatarsal in the Under-21 European Championship in July, before suffering a recurrence of the injury in October.

Emery also confirmed that striker Ollie Watkins and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez could feature in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brentford. The pair sat out of the 4-1 defeat at Manchester City on Wednesday.

Watkins was taken off as a precaution at half time during Villa’s victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers after feeling discomfort in his hamstring. Martinez, meanwhile, sat out of the game at the Etihad due to illness.

“Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins could be tomorrow,” Emery added. We will prepare the match in the last 24 hours and tomorrow, we will know if they will be available. Emi and Ollie are included in the squad for tomorrow.”

More to follow.
