Aston Villa will recall forward Louie Barry from his loan spell at Stockport County in January.

The Athletic previously reported in the Transfer DealSheet that Villa will make judgments on players currently out on loan for the season including Barry.

He has several admirers from teams in the Championship.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for the League One side since joining the club on what was intended to be a season-long loan in August.

Barry, who has played as a centre-forward, on the left wing, and as an attacking midfielder, has scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 22 games for Stockport, firing the newly-promoted side to fifth in the table.

It is yet to be decided whether the forward will be integrated into Villa’s squad or, as is increasingly likely, loaned to another club.

Barry came through at West Bromwich Albion’s youth academy and has had spells at Barcelona, Ipswich Town, Swindon Town, MK Dons and Salford City.

Villa, who are sixth in the Premier League after beating Manchester City 2-1 on Saturday, are next in action against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Boxing Day.
