Aston Villa have completed the transfer of right-back Andres Garcia from Spanish side Levante.

The Athletic reported on January 17 that the two clubs had reached an agreement on a fee of €7million (£5.91m; $7.2m) for the 21-year-old.

A new right-back was viewed as a priority by manager Unai Emery, with Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza, Andrei Ratiu from Rayo Vallecano and Flamengo’s Wesley Franca among those considered.

Villa opted for Garcia in the end, who suits the profile of right-back the club want and is a financially viable option. He is Villa’s second January signing, after forward Donyell Malen arrived from Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.

Garcia made his debut for Levante in 2023 and made 50 appearances in all competitions for the club. He has scored three goals and provided three assists in the Spanish second tier this season.

The path could now be clear for 19-year-old right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic to leave Villa on loan.
