Army vs. Notre Dame: How to watch, picks, odds as Yankee Stadium hosts big clash

Notre Dame and Army have played a lot of big games throughout their history, but it has been a long time since they played one as significant as Saturday’s game at Yankee Stadium. The No. 6 Fighting Irish are roughly two-touchdown favorites against No. 19 Army, as the Black Knights look to keep their undefeated season going.

No. 19 Army vs. No. 6 Notre Dame

Army has not defeated Notre Dame since 1958. The Fighting Irish own a 15-game winning streak in the series. Six of those wins during that streak have been shutouts. Army has only scored more than 10 points twice in those games, and Notre Dame won by more than 20 points in 11 of those games.

If there was ever a game for the Black Knights to keep it close and perhaps even steal a win, this would be it.

It would also be significant for Army from a resume-building standpoint. While the Black Knights are unbeaten, their strength of schedule is among the worst in the country. Beating Notre Dame, or at least keeping the game close and competitive, would be a massive statement that the team is for real.

That level of competition is going to increase dramatically in the coming weeks. Along with No. 6 Notre Dame on Saturday, Army’s spot in the AAC title game against No. 20 Tulane is already set.

Notre Dame has bounced back nicely from an early-season slip against Northern Illinois and is riding an eight-game winning streak into Saturday’s game. The Fighting Irish have also scored at least 30 points in each of the past six games, including three games with at least 49 points.

Both teams have been strong against the spread this season. Army is 7-2 ATS, and Notre Dame has covered in eight of its 10 games.
