The winner of the 2024 Booker Prize is Samantha Harvey for her novel Orbital (Grove Press). The announcement was made by Edmund de Waal, Chair of the 2024 judges, in a ceremony in London, on November 12.

de Waal described the novel as “a book about a wounded world,” and noted that the panel’s “unanimity about Orbital recognizes its beauty and ambition.”

Orbital tells the story of a day in the life of six astronauts on the International Space Station as they meditate on humanity and Earth’s splendor.
