Sometimes it’s tempting to feel bad for Kamala Harris. Not only is the Queen of Word Salads not ready for prime time – she’s not even ready for a 3:30 a.m., three-minute voice-over for a test of the emergency broadcast system. But before we start feeling empathetic, we must remember just what an awful vice president she has been – and what a horrendous president she would be, which fortunately for us is looking less and less likely as the election draws near.

She’s been roundly – and fairly – criticized for her phony, pre-scripted “interviews,” and things were getting uncomfortable enough that, on Friday, she actually took questions from reporters while campaigning – inexplicably – in Houston Texas. It went about like you’d expect. Here are some highlights.

First, she completely misrepresented what former President Donald Trump had to say about illegal immigration:

She said:

…the comment that Donald Trump made about America being the trash can of the world. Whatever he said, something along those lines.

Nobody who has listened to Trump speak could possibly misinterpret this comment as badly as Kamala Harris has done. The former president was not, of course, calling America “trash.” He was referring to the practices of other countries, like Venezuela, using our country as a safety valve to export their criminals, their gang members, and so on; the actions of other governments and nations, not ours. We can dispute the facts of the cases all day, as far as numbers and sources of illegal immigration, but we can’t dispute Trump’s meaning here. Kamala Harris, in this statement, is trying to distract from her utter failure on the immigration issue.

Then, on the economy:

One of the things I love about the American people is, we can hold many thoughts at once. And one of the highest priorities for the American people is bringing down cost, and that is the priority of my agenda, and will be the priority of my work when I’m elected president.

I won’t go into any speculation as to whether the vice president can even hold one thought at a time. But if Harris has “brought down cost,” why have costs skyrocketed in the time she’s been in office? Joe Biden himself, befuddled and confused though he may be, has embraced Harris to the presidential bosom (now there’s a mental image you won’t get rid of easily) claiming that she has been a part of every decision made in the last almost four years.

And her answer here doesn’t even make sense; she evidently is trying to talk about inflation, which is a money-supply issue. One way to address inflation is to increase the cost of debt by raising interest rates – like the country did in the early ’80s – or reduce the money supply, increasing the value of each dollar. But Kamala Harris’ answer to everything is for the federal government to spend more, which is precisely how we got into this mess to begin with.

As for her work after this election, if she manages to pull out a win – so, where is the plan, Madam Vice President? What will you do to “bring down cost” – she also doesn’t understand the difference between costs and prices – that you weren’t able to do in the last, almost four years? Or is this another typically Democrat scheme in which we will have to vote for the candidate to find out what’s in it?

Kamala Harris spoke to the press for nine whole minutes on Friday. That’s something of a record for her, being off-teleprompter. Her expression throughout was interesting; she was clearly uncomfortable, wooden, and as is her usual practice, relied on pre-rehearsed talking points.

This person just is not good at communicating. She’s no Ronald Reagan. She’s no Bill Clinton. She’s not even a Hillary Clinton. And that’s setting the bar pretty low; Her Imperial Majesty Hillary I, while not a great speaker, at least has some brains. She could be evil, but she’s not stupid. Can we really say the same for Kamala Harris?

Yes, sometimes it’s tempting to feel sorry for Kamala Harris. But let’s hold off on expressing any sympathy until Kamala has been retired from public life and sent back to California. And maybe not even then.
