LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – While many across the state spent this past weekend with their families for the Fourth of July weekend, one traveler spent hers looking for her car that was stolen in broad daylight.

Traveling nurse April Dooley says around 4pm on Sunday she went into the Green Corner Store in the SoMa district. She said she stepped out of her car to grab a few items before getting on the highway, and as she got ready to walk back to her car she panicked, realizing it was gone.

“I was gone in less than five minutes, and it happened that quickly,” Dooley said.

She said she was traveling to Kansas City to sign her contract as a traveling nurse, before things took a turn.

She said she initially thought the car door was locked until she heard these 4 words from her friend.

“Your car is gone. I, of course, freaked out, blanked out for a second and immediately called 911,” Dooley said.

She says the suspect drove away with her puppy inside, and that the business across the street caught everything on camera and it has been given to the police.

Dooley said it’s something that’s caused her to be more mindful.

“Get a tracking device on your car, because that would’ve helped all of this because If I would’ve had it I wouldn’t be in this predicament now,” Dooley stated.
