Sara Zewde
Founding Principal, Studio Zewde

Based in Harlem, AD100 firm Studio Zewde is a hybrid practice, identifying as landscape architecture, urban planning, and public art. Founding principal Sara Zewde, who trained in urban planning at MIT and landscape architecture at Harvard, launched her now 11-person studio in 2018, which has built a reputation for creating green spaces that are at once culturally affirming, ecologically functional, and aesthetically pleasing. Most recently, the practice revitalized Dia Beacon’s eight-acre riverfront grounds in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Oliver Freundlich
Founding Principal, Oliver Freundlich Design

Connection and collaboration are the magic ingredients behind architectural designer Oliver Freundlich and his team’s function-forward, craft-embedded approach. A graduate of the Yale School of Architecture, Freundlich founded his eponymous firm in 2011 and has built a portfolio that spans modernist escapes in the Hamptons to airy city town houses that smartly maximize petite backyards and terraces. Apt at weaving new design dialogues respectfully into historical properties, the AD100 practice has amassed a star-studded client list—actor Julianne Moore and photographer R.A. Bride among them.
