In what can only be accurately described as a case study in projection, Democrat Senator Elissa Slotkin (MI) said Americans in the Trump era are like teenagers whose brains have yet to fully form.

Pot, meet kettle.

To complete the irony, Slotkin’s comments were made as a guest with the ladies of “The View” on Tuesday morning.

“We’re about to turn 250 years old, right? We’re still pretty young for a country,” she explained. “These are, like, our angry teenage years. We are going through this push and pull where we’re happy, we’re sad.”

“We want this, we want that, and what do you do when you have a teenager threatening themselves and others? You just try to get them through this period alive so that their brain can fully form.”

I give to you, Deplorables 2.0. Or maybe it’s a much higher number since several Democrats have referred to voters as stupid after the election.

And let’s just go ahead and get out in front of the fact-checkers—Slotkin is not referring to Trump and Trump alone as the not fully matured teen; she’s referring to the country as a whole. How do I know this? Joy Behar, in all of her glee at hearing the senator’s analogy, flat-out asks her.

“Are you talking about Trump?” Behar asks, clearly trying to offer her guest a lifeline.

“No, I’m talking about our country,” Slotkin replied.

Conservatives on X responded harshly to Sen. Slotkin’s comments.

“Ah yes, we’ve reached the point post-election loss where Democrats just revert to calling Americans stupid for voting against them,” writes Abigail Jackson, communications director for Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO). “Not a single ounce of self-awareness to be found.”

Fox News contributor Joe Concha pointed out that “Slotkin says this while literally sounding like a teenager.”

“A Democrat who thinks the reason they lost is because we are all too dumb to understand stuff,” added radio host Grace Curley. “How refreshing!”

As my RedState colleague Jennifer Oliver O’Connell pointed out when Slotkin was tapped to give the rebuttal to President Trump’s address to Congress last week, the Michigan congresswoman “spent her political career in Congress (first in the House of Representatives) pretending to be a reasonable Democrat.”

“But as they say in the South: ‘That dog don’t hunt,'” O’Connell added.

Nowhere is that more evident than by calling Americans underdeveloped teenagers with no intelligence. Slotkin is now in the same territory as some other unhinged Democrats who have called voters stupid for daring to vote for President Trump.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) recently suggested that her party’s massive election losses were due to voters’ not being smart enough to understand the complexities of why the Democrats are good for them.

“My takeaway is just like the election: We’ve got to do better at education,” Crockett said.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) made a similar statement saying of Trump supporters in his administration, “These people are just idiots.”

Crockett and Omar, we expect this kind of rhetoric from them. But Slotkin just joined their little party, and she’s supposed to be a level-headed choice for the Democratic party? Whose brains, exactly, haven’t fully formed yet?
