After four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Najee Harris will don a new uniform in 2025 following a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency, a team source confirmed.

Harris joins the Chargers on a one-year, $9.5 million deal, ushering in a fresh start for the running back who turned 27 on Sunday. The former Alabama standout arrived in Pittsburgh as the No. 24 pick in 2021 and has yet to miss a game, establishing himself as one of the NFL’s most durable dual-threat backs with 71 straight starts including the playoffs.

The No. 45 free agent and No. 2 running back on The Athletic’s NFL free agency top 150, Harris is coming off his fourth-straight 1,000-yard season, making him the 14th player ever to do so to start a career. In 2024, Harris logged 263 carries for 1,043 yards and six touchdowns and added 36 receptions for 283 yards for the 10-7 Steelers. He also tallied six carries for 17 yards and three receptions for 41 yards in Pittsburgh’s 28-14 wild-card loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

For his career, Harris has amassed 4,312 rushing yards — the sixth most in Steelers history — and 28 touchdowns (seventh most) on 1,097 carries.
