One of the most recognised and respected names in real estate in Victoria, Greg Hocking, has joined forces with leading luxury real estate agency Marshall White.
Mr Hocking’s revered career spans decades, including building his own agency, and he has been celebrated as one of the leading agents in the Inner Bayside precinct.
Starting out in Bridport Street, Albert Park, Mr Hocking has witnessed significant transformation in the Bayside community over the years.
“When I first started in real estate, from Port Melbourne to St Kilda West, there were Kingswoods, Falcons, and Valiants on the streets, and now everywhere I look there are Ferraris or Porches,” Mr Hocking said.
“St Vincent’s Place was full of boarding houses, not million-dollar private residences.
“This area was still very much the reflection of those working at the Port, but over the last few decades, the people of Melbourne have recognised the incredible lifestyle available in the area.”
The veteran agent said there are now a diverse range of residents now calling the area home.
“We now have everyone from billionaires, CEOs, celebrities, football players and families living across these suburbs,” he said.
“However, the houses aren’t the mansions you see in other old established Melbourne suburbs – buyers recognise the amenities and the area being the best that Melbourne has to offer and are staying put.”
Looking ahead to the market in 2025, Mr Hocking believes there has never been a better time to buy.
“We’ve had a tricky few years with 13 consecutive interest rate hikes in addition to the implementation of a range of property-focused tax laws here in Victoria,” Mr Hocking said.
“Right now, with interest rates dropping in the lead-up to the federal election, we are seeing confidence in the market.
“Sellers who were waiting in the wings and now seeing buyers coming back to the market are taking the opportunity to upsize or move on to their next home.”
Mr Hocking has experience working across Melbourne’s real estate from a local level to facilitating one of the highest residential transactions in the city of Port Phillip to date.
