Manchester City will make a late call on Erling Haaland’s availability ahead of the midweek Premier League trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Norway international has missed City’s last two games after picking up a knee problem in the win over Newcastle United earlier this month.
Pep Guardiola indicated after Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool that he hoped the 24-year-old would be fit again “soon” but speaking ahead of Wednesday’s game in north London he said he remained in the dark.
“Tonight we will know after training,” Guardiola said. “I hope so, but we don’t know yet. He feels better but we will see tomorrow.”
The loss to Liverpool left the defending champions 20 points behind Arne Slot’s league leaders.
That game followed quickly on from defeat to Real Madrid that saw City exit the Champions League at the play-off stage.
Asked if bringing his side back from such a low point will be his biggest challenge in his time in charge, Guardiola said: “No. We have done it already.
“After nine years, it is not the same team we started with nine years ago. We have done it two or three times already. It is not the biggest challenge.
“The challenge I had is when I was starting my managerial career with my staff. I proved myself and my staff proved we can do it.”
City sit fourth in the Premier League table, level on points with Newcastle United in fifth and just a point above both Bournemouth and Chelsea.
