'It Melted Down': Top Biden Advisor Says Democrat Party 'Lost Its Mind' After Disastrous Debate

Every time I write an article about the Democrat Party’s hysterical meltdown in the aftermath of President Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential election win, I think to myself that it will likely be my last. And every time I think that, I end up being wrong.

Thing is, Democrats still don’t get it.

And neither does a top Biden advisor, who is now blaming the party for the 82-year-old, bumbling, fumbling, cognitively-vacant president, abandoning his ill-advised reelection run.

During a recent discussion at Harvard University, former Biden senior advisor Mike Donilon delusionally said (emphasis, mine):

Now, lots of people have terrible debates. Lots of people have terrible debates. Usually, the party doesn’t lose its mind, but that’s what happened here. It melted down.

With due respect, Mr. Donilon, Biden — with a vacant “where the hell am I?” look on his face — was at times visibly confused, and other times, totally unintelligible. In my book — and the books of tens of millions of Americans, including untold numbers of Democrat voters — the former president’s disastrous performance was well beyond a “terrible debate.”

Not to further nitpick, but even left-“leaning” CNN and the BBC ran headlines calling the performance “disastrous” and “incoherent.”

CNN senior reporter Stephen Collinson wrote in an article:

If Joe Biden loses November’s election, history will record that it took just 10 minutes to destroy a presidency. It was clear a political disaster was about to unfold as soon as the 81-year-old commander in chief stiffly shuffled on stage in Atlanta.

Exactly. Democrats who continue to fail to see that reality, much less admit it, are lying to themselves. For the sake of their party, they rode their all-but-dead horse far too long.

New York Times columnist and huge Biden supporter Thomas Friedman wrote at the time that the debate made him “weep” and called on Biden to drop his reelection bid.

I cannot remember a more heartbreaking moment in American presidential campaign politics in my lifetime — precisely because of what it revealed: Joe Biden, a good man and a good president, has no business running for re-election.

Was there any doubt? Yet here’s Donilon, who has known Biden for 40 years, calling the Democrat Party “insane” for clearly seeing what he still can’t see.

Anyway, as crazy as it sounds, Donilon continued to rip the Democrat Party for abandoning Joe.

They will say they’re worried about Biden’s age, but they’ll also say something else. They were really worried about Trump. They were worried about the fact he said he wouldn’t accept the results of the election. They were worried that he said, ‘I had nothing to do with Jan. 6.’ The sense from him was that he was not on the side of people.

I said this to Biden the morning after the debate: Sometimes you can lose the campaign about the campaign,” he said. “And that’s what happened to us.

I don’t know what Donilon meant by most of the above, but I do know — and I’m usually loathe to say this — Democrats were right. Those who recognized that Biden had no business running for reelection, that is.

Meanwhile, the party of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris continues to lose its collective minds over virtually everything Trump says and does, but its histrionic meltdown over Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is its best theatrical performance yet.
