The president of the New York University chapter of the College Republicans of America submitted her resignation, the organization announced Monday, after a comment she made about NYU freshman Barron Trump rubbed them the wrong way.

Kaya Walker told Vanity Fair that the son of the president is “sort of like an oddity on campus,” adding, “He goes to class, he goes home.”

That, according to the College Republicans of America, was an “inappropriate” statement, even though other students have said Barron doesn’t spend much time on campus.

In a press release, the student group said that Walker’s comment “does not align with the values and principles upheld by our organization.”

“Though Vanity Fair and The Independent unfairly framed what was said, upon review, we still found it to be inappropriate,” they continued. “The NYU chapter President submitted her resignation last night.”

Walker could not be reached for comment.

After emphasizing its support for President Donald Trump, the organization said it is inviting Barron Trump to join.

“Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement, and we would be honored to have him join College Republicans of America,” CRA President Will Donahue said.

“Strong leadership is built on resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above petty hostility – qualities that Barron has already demonstrated. We invite Barron to join us in shaping the future of our party.”

The youngest of Trump’s children has kept a relatively low profile during his time at NYU. He was first spotted in September, and according to a December TMZ report, is a gamer who doesn’t spend much time on campus.

The CRA said its NYU chapter was working on a “smooth transition” of its leadership while adding its support of President Trump “is, and has been, a pillar of our organization.”
