Mid-valley residents hoping to chomp on a famous In-N-Out Double-Double can do so again at the chain’s Rancho Mirage location, which reopened Thursday after a four-day closure.

Kathleen Hardesty, a marketing communications specialist for In-N-Out, confirmed in an email the Rancho Mirage eatery was closed for four days in order to upgrade kitchen exhaust equipment.

“Specifically, the extensive air filtration system we have in place was not neutralizing odor to our satisfaction,” Hardesty wrote. “These improvements, made in order to provide a better experience for our neighbors, could only be completed during daytime hours which necessitated the closure.”

Hardesty added that the work was finished ahead of schedule, which led to the business, located at 42-560 Bob Hope Drive, reopening its doors and drive-thru lines for hungry customers on Thursday.

Gabe Codding, spokesperson for the City of Rancho Mirage, said the city facilitated the air filtration upgrade by issuing a permit for the work.

The Rancho Mirage In-N-Out opened in 2022, making it the city’s first fast-food drive-thru on Highway 111.

Other locations in the Coachella Valley include Indio, La Quinta and Thousand Palms. The iconic Southern California burger chain is also eyeing a drive-thru store in Palm Springs at the Smoke Tree Village shopping plaza on East Palm Canyon Drive.
