Newcastle United have reached agreement for defender Lloyd Kelly to move to Juventus on loan with an obligation to buy.
The 26-year-old has been given permission to travel to Italy for a medical ahead of what will be a £20million (€23.9m, $24.7m) transfer in the summer.
Turkish side Fenerbahce saw a £11million bid knocked back in January.
Head coach Eddie Howe insisted last month that Kelly was “integral” to Newcastle and stressed no bid has come “anywhere close to making the club make a decision”.
However, the club’s profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) position has always meant that any significant offers for players are always considered.
Kelly joined Newcastle from Bournemouth as a free agent last summer, having made 141 appearances for the south coast club over five years. Howe had taken the defender to Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2019.
Kelly has made 13 appearances for Newcastle this season in all competitions, but has started just four of the club’s 20 Premier League matches.
Fabian Schar and Dan Burn have been Howe’s preferred centre-back partnership this term, while Sven Botman has this month returned from a long-term knee injury.
