NFL players rely on their linemen to protect them on the field. Off of it, it’s their wives and girlfriends who have stepped up to clap back when fans have gotten out of line.
That includes some of the most famous WAGs in the league today. Kylie Kelce, wife of former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, often speaks about the community that NFL significant others have built around the league — from the stars to the practice players.
“We really found that the best way to do it was just be direct and say, ‘Hey if you need anything, we’re here year-round,” she said in a December episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast. “If there’s any way I can be of assistance or [anything] you need advice about or even if it’s just a restaurant recommendation, let me know.’”
NFL wives and girlfriends are tasked with defending each other, themselves and the players in an era where social media gives fans easy access to air their grievances.
